Introducing Mental Performance

Can you perform your best under pressure, when it matters most? At its core, Mental Performance is the ability to focus on the right thing at the right time, both in practice and in competition. We improve this ability through the development of skills and techniques that make us more resilient and more able to turn setbacks into learning opportunities; pressure into success. Some examples of foundational skills include:

  • setting goals

  • managing emotions and stress

  • focus

  • reframing negative thoughts

  • acceptance

  • developing effective communication

Luckily, these skills for high performance are also the skills of well-being and fulfillment in daily life.

About Liam

With a 15-year background in varsity and competitive sport and coaching, a Masters of Human Kinetics in Mental Performance Consulting, and a natural curiosity about the world around him, Liam brings a wealth of knowledge to any performance context.

Some of his professional areas of interest include career-altering injuries, decision fatigue in ultra distance athletes, audition pressure in the performing arts, and increasing access to sport and performance spaces for underrepresented populations.

When not busy helping you perform your best, Liam can be found running or skiing the forested trails of the Gatineau Park near his home, curled up on the couch with a book, or working with his partner in their garden.

What to expect

After an intake session focused on getting to know you and your objectives, we will follow a strengths based, evidence-informed pathway to skill development and mastery. Expect to be challenged and pushed through conversation, self-reflection, and other exercises. Together, we will co-create the tools that will help you feel better and perform better. So let’s go!
